Police are searching for brazen thieves who stole a large hot tub from a garden in York.
They unplumbed it from the home in Greenshaw Drive, Haxby and are thought to have loaded it into a lorry and driven off.
The theft was reported to police on Sunday, 26 March, but it is believed the theft happened on Friday morning.
The hot tub had been hired from Ilkley-based firm Hot Tub Hire Yorkshire.
A spokesperson for the company told YorkMix: “We were just about to set off to pick up the tub around 8.30am Monday morning, when I received a call from my son: ‘Have you read the email yet ?'”‘
“The customer had sent us an email in the early hours Monday morning – 1.13am to be precise.
“I could not believe it at first, so we called the customer and asked some questions regarding the last time seen and the first time not seen, neighbours seen anything, any CCTV in the area.”
After sharing details of the theft on social media, “a women called me to let me know she had seen two men loading a hot tub into a Luton van on the same road of the delivery address at around 10am on Friday 24 March but could recall the registration number.”
They urged anyone with any more information to get in touch with police.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At round 3.20pm pm on Sunday, 26 March a hot tub was reported stolen from the garden of a property in Haxby.
“A witness believes the theft may have taken place at around 10am on Friday, 24 March when two men were seen loading a white van.
“Anyone with information should contact North Yorkshire Police quoting reference NYP-26032023-0242.”
The Hot Tub Hire Yorkshire owner added: “I really do hope the general public can provide the police with some useful information and they can find the time and resources to investigate this, but realistically don’t think this will happen.
“The customer is no longer communicating with us and there are still many unanswered questions.
“We have kept our insurance company advised and have now submitted a formal claim.”
