A body found close to the pier in Scarborough has now been identified as Matthew Dillon, police revealed this afternoon (Monday).
Coastal search teams recovered his body from the area on 3 February.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be prepared for the coroner for a future inquest.”
Matthew, 46, was last seen leaving his home address in Armitage Gardens, Mossley Hill, Merseyside on Monday 2 January.
The search then moved to North Yorkshire and he was spotted on CCTV in a pub in York.
“Matthew’s family have been informed and have requested privacy at this time,” the police spokesperson said.
