Police searching for a missing York man have recovered a body.
The search for Fraser Tuddenham, 91, from Huntington, was launched after he was last seen on 14 February.
Police said the discovery of the body was made yesterday (Saturday) at Strensall Common, “as part of the ongoing search led by North Yorkshire Police with support from specialist teams and local volunteers”.
A member of the public walking her dog found the remains.
Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of Mr Tuddenham has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “This is a very sad development, and our thoughts are with Mr Tuddenham’s family and friends at this difficult time. We are grateful to everyone who assisted in the search.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner. “
