Body found in search for missing North Yorkshire man
Police searching for a missing North Yorkshire man said today (Tuesday) that his body has been found.
Officers searching for Gavin Dhont, from Ripon, said that the body was recovered from the River Ure on 29 January.
It has now been identified as Mr Dhont, who was 45.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are sad to report that a body recovered from the River Ure on 29 January 2023 has been identified as Ripon man, Gavin Dhont, reported missing on 13 December 2022.
“His family have been informed.”
Mr Dhont was last seen in Ripon on Tuesday 6 December.
Many posters and leaflets were distributed in the area as part of the search to find him, and his family appealed for his safe return.
Police thanked everyone who had shared their appeal to find him.
