A body has been found in a river north of York.
Police received a call at 9.50am today (Sunday) from a member of the public who had spotted a man’s body in the Kyle Beck River at Tollerton.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers located the body, and while formal identification has not taken place, we have informed the family of missing man, Luke Willetts of this discovery.
“We are therefore cancelling the appeal to locate Luke and thank everyone who has called in with information on his possible whereabouts.
“A post-mortem will take place in due course but at this time we do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
“Our thoughts are with Luke’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time and we ask their privacy is respected.”
Mr Willetts, 33, had not be seen since 5.30am on Monday 23 October, when he left his home in Tollerton.
He was last seen heading in the direction of Alne.
A police helicopter was deployed in the search for Mr Willetts, along with officers from British Transport Police who checked nearby railway lines.
