Body discovered in a York field

Police are investigating after the discovery of a body in a field in York.

Offiers were called just before 11am today (Thursday) when a member of the public came across a man’s body in the field at Clifton Backies, off Water Lane.

A number of ambulance crews also attended. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several police vans are in the area as officers conduct investigations into the identity of the man and the cause of death.
