Drugs and stolen property were seized by police after a car reached speeds of 100mph on a York road.
Early this morning (Wednesday), officers became suspicious of a black BMW towing a trailer and driving fast along the A64 near Copmanthorpe.
They followed the BMW which drove off along the A19 towards Escrick at speeds up to 100mph.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A pursuit was authorised so that specially trained officers could pursue the vehicle which had, in the meantime, momentarily stopped to abandon the trailer in the middle of the A163.
“The vehicle then continued at speed and was brought to a stop by pursuit-trained officers near North Duffield.”
The driver, a man aged 35, and his passenger, a 23-year-old woman, were searched, as was the vehicle. A quantity of class A drugs was found.
The abandoned trailer tent is one suspected to have been stolen from the York area.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs, failing to stop for the police, theft, dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for testing and drug driving. He is in police custody.
The woman was later released without charge.
