Bikers using road near North Yorkshire beauty spot ‘as a racetrack’
Several motorcyclists have been charged after a police crackdown on speeding.
North Yorkshire Police Traffic Bureau said they responded to reports from the public that “the A59 near Bolton Abbey was being used as a racetrack” by bikers.
An officer was deployed from Skipton – and recorded a number of motorcyclists travelling at speeds of more than 90mph. The road has a 60mph speed limit.
In a tweet, the bureau said: “These motorcyclists will be invited to court!
“We have a zero tolerance towards this driver/rider behaviour. It puts lives at risk!”
