A large pub on the outskirts of York that is popular with families is planning big changes.
The Riverside Farm pub and carvery on Shipton Road, Rawcliffe, is proposing to knock down the building which serves as a walkway to its well-known Wacky Warehouse.
According to plans from brewery Greene King, a single storey extension plus terrace would be built in its place.
Planning documents propose the “demolition of the brick/tile walkway which connects the pub/restaurant to the Wacky Warehouse building.
“This removal of the long area of ‘modern’ brick will open up the site and reduce the mass of the building works. When viewed from the road a much more open site will be seen.
“The proposed single storey southern extension will have associated terraced area adjoining the northern and southern sides of the existing pub/restaurant.”
A concrete area to the north of the site will become a car park.
A design statement states: “The proposed design, including the demolition of elements of the existing buildings, is seen as consolidating the operation of the pub/restaurant but also by opening up the site with better views both into and out of the site.”
There would also be a new entrance canopy added.
