We’re all looking for a place to meet up and chill out in the great outdoors.
And this could be one of the best spots in the country to do just that.
A new outdoor seating area has been created in Exhibition Square in front of York Art Gallery.
It’s got a bit of everything. A fabulous view, featuring York Minster, Bootham Bar and the De Grey Rooms.
The relaxing sounds of a tinkling fountain. It’s own pollinator-friendly plants. And refreshments close by, from local cafes and an ice cream van.
It has been installed today (Friday) by the York BID as part of the city’s plan to create more open-air seating spaces.
“The BID team have been hard at work today helping install seating around the city, including some fun additions for younger visitors and bee-friendly flower planters!” the BID said on Twitter.
“This seating gives extra space where you can take food and drink from nearby businesses to enjoy.”
Together with Make It York and City of York Council, the BID is creating a series of new seating areas to allow people to safely see their friends and family, and create additional seating to support nearby cafes, pubs and restaurants.
