Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a thief was disturbed while ransacking a York house.
The burglary happened in the Jasmine Close area of New Earswick at around 6.30am on Saturday (10 December).
A man broke into the house and removed electrical items before being disturbed by homeowners.
He ran off before police arrived. Despite an area search and ongoing enquires over the weekend, the man has yet to be identified.
The suspect is described as
- white
- of slim build
- aged around 25 to 30
- wearing a balaclava
- a black puffer jacket with the hood up and
- black jeans.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are asking for the public’s assistance to help establish who this man is with any information on his identity or whereabouts.
“We are appealing for information about anyone matching this description seen in the area around this time on Saturday morning, and we are particularly keen to hear from anyone with possible footage of the suspect be it from private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam.”
