Meet Aurora, the baby hippo born in North Yorkshire.
The two week old calf is the latest addition at Flamingo Land Resort – and she’s is being looked after round the clock.
When keepers were concerned that her mother Godzilla wasn’t feeding her properly, she was taken to vets, before being returned to the Kirby Misperton attraction under the watchful care of the expert staff.
We got an update today from Ben Harris at Flamingo Land.

He said: “Our keepers are working around the clock to make sure that she’s OK.
“She did have a slightly rocky start – but she’s doing really well, putting on a lot of weight. Because she does have a lot of growing to do.”
Her arrival is “really important stuff”, Ben said. “Not many zoos in the UK actually have the common hippo.
“So Godzilla finally joining the breeding programme and having a baby of her own is really good for zoos across the UK.”
And he revealed that she’s been named Aurora – after the aurora borealis that lit up North Yorkshire’s skies days after her birth on 8 May.
So when will the public get a chance to see Aurora?
“We’re not sure of the exact date,” Ben said. “She is still growing quite a bit. She’s still quite shy, so she’s off show at the moment.
“But hopefully in a few months, we might be able to actually get a glimpse of her outside.”
