A supermarket worker was hurt during an armed robbery in York, police revealed today (Monday).
It happened at Lidl on Thanet Road at 6.40pm last Tuesday (3 May).
A man entered the store and made off with a large quantity of meat.
When approached by a member of staff, he threatened them with violence.
The suspect then produced what police call a ‘bladed article’ and lunged at the supermarket worker.
The suspect then ran off from the scene onto Hob Moor.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“In particular, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward.
“We are also appealing for any dash-camera footage from any vehicles that were in the car park of the store at the time of the incident.”
