Armed police descended on a York street this afternoon.
Officers sealed off Grosvenor Terrace at its junction with Bootham. The street reopened at about 1.40pm.
Police were focusing their attention on one three-storey house about halfway down Grosvenor Terrace.
Armed officers and police with dogs were seen near the property.
The police helicopter has also flown over the scene.
Residents were barred from entering the street for about an hour. They have now been allowed to return.
One resident said they believed the incident was connected to a domestic dispute involving a couple who live in the house.
