The incident in Woodthorpe has come to safe end.
Armed police officers were called to Spindle Close, off Bellwood Drive early this morning (Wednesday).
Multiple emergency service vehicles were stationed at the scene for several hours.
Just after 1pm, a woman from the property was placed into the care of medical staff at the scene.
No one was injured during the incident and police thanked local people for their patience and understanding while they worked to resolve the incident safely.
Earlier a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police are currently at the scene of an incident in Spindle Close in York with concerns for the welfare of a distressed person inside a property.
“Specially trained officers are at the scene and are working to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
“The incident is contained within the property and officers believe there is no threat to the wider community.”
