Two of York’s fantastic eateries have been nominated in the Deliveroo 2024 Restaurant Awards – and the voting is now open!
In the North England and Midlands category, Clucking Oinks has been nominated for the Best Chicken and Wawin Chinese has been nominated for Best Chinese.
And you can cast your vote to help bring these brilliant places to victory – with the chance to win £500 in Deliveroo credit.
“We were surprised and over the moon to be nominated for the award,” Mike Brand, co-owner of Clucking Oinks, told YorkMix.
Clucking Oinks opened its first restaurant on Castlegate in June last year, which operates alongside its other location in Spark. It is the last of the inaugural traders at Spark, and first started as a food truck in 2016. The restaurant serves up fried chicken, wings, and burgers and is hugely popular in the city.
And what makes Clucking Oinks the best chicken in the North? “Great suppliers, our team, and love,” said Mike. “We’re constantly pushing for great fried chicken.”
Wawin Chinese has also been nominated for Best Chinese in the awards. The 100% vegan Chinese takeaway is located on Heslington Road, and serves up all your classic favourites like crispy ‘duck’, spring rolls, ‘chicken’ skewers, and salt and pepper tofu.
Wawin also has locations in Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Nottingham.
Voting in the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards closes on Sunday 21 January – so don’t wait to cast your vote! The culinary champions of the year will be revealed on Thursday 15 February. Other voting categories include Best Pizza, Best Sushi, Best Breakfast & Coffee, and Independent Restaurant of the Year.
