It’s become a familiar sight in York – water bubbling up through the ground and across a city road.
And this one will cause extra alarms for drivers, as it’s close to a major water mains burst which shut a key road for several days.
The water is coming from close to a bus stop on Fawcett Street.
Leak location

The steady stream is flowing from close to the kerb and leaving a large pool of water across the road to near Totos Italian Restaurant on the other side.
People who use the road regularly say the leak has got worse over the last 48 hours.
However, the road is not damaged, and traffic is still moving normally.
Fawcett Street forms part of the Fishergate loop. Late last month Fishergate was closed for several days by a water mains burst.
A Yorkshire Water team had to dig up the road. We’ve asked Yorkshire Water about this latest leak and they’ve promised to get some information to us soon.
