York police have again had the grim task of pulling a body from one of York’s rivers.
The body of a woman in her 60s was recovered from the River Foss near Sainsbury’s on Foss Bank on Wednesday evening (January 22).
They had been called by a member of the public who had spotted the body at 8.15pm.
A police spokeswoman said:
“At this stage, police are treating her death as unexplained and a full investigation is being carried out to determine how she came to be in the river and the circumstances that led to their death.”
The area was cordoned off while police officers examined the scene.
The woman has not yet been formally identified and officers are in the process of contacting her next of kin.
Another body, that of a man, was recovered from the Foss near Foss Bank on November 18, 2014.
