The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of York and the Civic Party will be facing opposition from York Minster Bowls Club in the annual Lord Mayor’s Bowls Match this weekend.
The Civic Party will be joined by Councillors and Honorary Alderman to form a team in this annual contest taking place at Clarence Gardens on Saturday 3 August at 1.30pm.
The two teams will be competing for a trophy, to be presented by the Lord Mayor. The Civic Party has been repeatedly bowled over by its opponents in recent years.
The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Julie Gunnell, said: “I am delighted to be attending this sporting contest at Clarence Gardens where the Civic Party is hoping to win the trophy for the first time certainly in our memories.
“The event promises to be great fun and an event that I am looking forward to hopefully the Civic Party can end the long wait to win this trophy this year.”
