A North Yorkshire road has reopened after two lanes were closed due to a crash that killed a horse.

The incident took place this morning on the M62 Westbound at J34, the turning for Selby and Doncaster.

The road has now reopened and traffic is returning to normal.

Selby fire crew were requested by authorities at 02:58 am to assist with a horse that had been struck on the road.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Services said:

“Selby fire crew were requested by the Police and Highways Agency to assist with a horse which had been struck and killed on the carriageway.

“Crew power was used to move the body from the motorway, with the road surface then washed down.”
