A64 open again after serious crash

The A64 was closed in both directions after a serious crash in Ryedale tonight (Tuesday).

It was shut between Ganton and Willerby, which is located between the A169 at Malton and the A1039 at Staxton.

The road is now open again in both directions.

National Highways said: “The road has been closed in both directions by North Yorkshire Police due to the seriousness of the collision in which injuries have been reported.

“The collision involves two vehicles which was first reported to North Yorkshire Police at 4:21pm. They are currently assisted at scene by all emergency services.”

The AA is reporting stationary traffic between Malton and Scarborough.

Diversion routes

Eastbound traffic are advised to follow the hollow circle symbol. 
  • Driving East, exit the A64 using Pickering Interchange slip road and proceed to the end of the slip road.
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A169 and proceed along this road for approximately 8 miles to the roundabout with the A170.
  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A170 and proceed along this road for approximately 20 miles until reaching A64 (Seamer Road) in Scarborough.
Westbound traffic are advised to follow the hollow circle symbol. 
  • Driving West, proceed on the A64 to Musham Bank Roundabout.
  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto B1261 and proceed along this road for approximately 1 mile.
  • At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto B1261 and proceed along this road for approximately 3 miles to the roundabout with the A170.
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A170 and proceed along this road for approximately 15 miles to the roundabout with the A169.
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A169 and proceed along this road for approximately 8 miles to the junction with the A64 (Pickering Interchange).
  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit to rejoin A64 West.
