The central reservation barrier has been heavily damaged in the incident.

Emergency repairs will be required to the barrier before the road can be opened again.

A diversion is available and is marked out with a hollow circle symbol on local road signs.

Traffic is instructed to exit the A19 southbound at Ellerbeck and take the A684 westbound to Northallerton.

In Northallerton join the A168 southbound towards Thirsk.

Re-join the A19 at the Thirsk junction.
