A pub near York has reopened – with a new look, new name, and new management.
The Olivia Inn, on the A19 at Deighton, near Escrick, has revealed a whole new look, as it announced its reopening on social media.
The pub was previously The White Swan Inn, which closed suddenly in May last year.
But now it’s back with a whole new look and under new management.
It’s another comeback story for the pub just five miles south of York city centre, as it previously shut without notice back in January 2023, and reopened in March 2023 under the stewardship of Ann and Dave who worked for Marston’s.
It emerged that Marston’s had put the White Swan up for sale, along with 60 more of its 1,400-strong pub estate.
After shutting for a second time, there were worries it might possibly be for good – but those worries are no more!
Inside, the revamped pub has a foliage theme, with green panelling, flora-and-fauna print-backed chairs, and flowers and leafery adorning the ceiling and walls.
The Olivia Swan are encouraging people to “please call in” and are “looking forward to welcoming customers old and new”, they said on their Facebook post.
The pub is just open for drinks for the time being, but will be serving food soon.
The current opening hours are Wednesday and Thursday 5-9pm, Friday and Saturday 5-11pm, and Sundays 12-4pm.
