A new graffiti and street art exhibition is coming to York.
The exhibition, titled ‘Rise of the Vandals’, is the fourth project from York-based non-profit art collective Bombsquad.
It will take place over four floors of galleries at 2 Low Ousegate, and will focus on the largely unseen history of graffiti and street art in York from the 1980s through to the present day.
You might have seen Bombsquad’s work already out and about in York while crossing Ouse bridge.
The ‘Rise of the Vandals’ exhibition will take place over three weekends from Friday 21 June to Sunday 14 July.
It will feature a range of contributing artists, and draw on the extensive archive of York artist Keith Hopewell aka Part2ism, which includes photography, video and press clippings.
Proceeds from Rise of the Vandals will be donated to the York youth homelessness charity SASH, and donations can also be made to their Just Giving page.
As well as the four floors of art, there will also be a cinema room, resident and guest DJs, installations and a shop.
It will be free entry.
