York theatre company Riding Lights have partnered with adoption and fostering charity Home For Good in a new play that highlights the needs of vulnerable children in care.
The new original play My Place by Bridget Foreman will visit York on its UK tour on Friday 27 May at Friargate Theatre.
Powerful and moving, My Place follows the stories of four children in care – an individual child, a pair of siblings and an unaccompanied child refugee.
The play will use a range of story-telling techniques such as song and spoken word to bring their different backgrounds and journeys to life. The aim is to highlight the need for all vulnerable children to be able to thrive in a safe, stable and loving home.
Riding Lights have partnered with the charity Home For Good to bring the play around the country on a nationwide tour.
Home For Good is a charity that aspires to find a home for every child who needs one, through fostering, adoption and supported lodgings.
There will be an opportunity after the performance to hear how each of us can play our part in transforming the lives of vulnerable children and people.
The tour kicked off at the beginning of May with two preview performances at Friargate Theatre before setting off around the UK. The tour returns to the York venue and then will continue into July.
“It’s been having a brilliant reception on the road,” said co-director Erin Burbridge.
Tickets are available from £8 via the Riding Lights website.
