There are many reasons for hospitality businesses to feel confident this summer, a return of indoor dining and overnight stays in accommodation providers as well as the pent-up demand for travel has seen a mini-boom since 17th May.
With this sunny outlook, the owner of Grays Court has taken the opportunity to promote from within and appoint Strategic Partner, Sarah Czarnecki, as a director in the business alongside Helen and her daughter, Morgan Heraty-Wells.
“Since joining us Sarah has brought her passion and perseverance, which has helped us propel the business. Everything from increased room nights, higher customer satisfaction scores and more, all leading to our crowning as the Best Small Hotel in England in 2020 and a Michelin Plate for our restaurant, The Bow Room. This partnership has been so successful that I couldn’t think of anyone else I’d rather have as a co-director.”
Commented Helen Heraty, owner of the boutique hotel in the heart of the city of York.

Sarah, who joined Grays Court in 2015, has had a varied career, including working in hospitality in the UK and America, a directorship in the railway industry and as a Researcher at the University of York. However, it is in her role at the award-winning hotel that she has been able to immerse herself fully and build strategic partnerships in her beloved city of York.
“I have been so fortunate to work with Helen and the team to really develop something special. We have been through some challenging times, of course, but now with the reopening of the economy, we can get back to work welcoming visitors and planning for the future. I’m excited to help lead this time of real change and expansion for the hotel as director and Strategic Partner.”
