A host of top guests join YorkMix Radio for a live celebration of Local Radio Day
Happy Local Radio Day!
It’s a day that champions the amazing community-binding connections that are created by radio.
And to celebrate, the YorkMix Radio team are broadcasting live all day from one of the city centre’s top shops – York Gin on Pavement.
Starting at 10am, with Victoria Charles presenting her morning show from the shop, the outside broadcast will continue till 6pm tonight.
And there are a host of great guests coming along to help celebrate with us. They include York Central MP Rachael Maskell.
Ms Maskell told Victoria: “During the pandemic, we really valued local radio. It told us what was going on when we weren’t able to be out and about.
“It connects us all, which is absolutely fantastic.”
And radio helped to keep people informed. “We want people to talk about issues and reflect on different perspectives.
“YorkMix do that – you take a story, delve deeper into what’s really happening, which gives all of us an opportunity to form our own views on things happening in communities across the city.”
Mark Mattinson, manager of York Dungeon, talked about their plans for a Halloween Walking Tour.
York Retail Forum’s Phil Pinder urged people to shop early for Christmas, given the supply chain problems affecting stores at the moment.
We will update this post with more later. In the meantime, pop down and say hello (there’s YorkMix merch!).
