Are you ready for some spine-tingling tales from the master teller of ghost stories?
Actor Robert Lloyd Parry from the Nunkie theatre company will bring the ghost stories of MR James to life in York this week – over a century after their first publication.
This will not be the first time Lloyd Parry has played the author, as he also played James in Mark Gatiss’s acclaimed BBC documentary Ghost Writer.
The one-man show will retell Lost Hearts and A Warning to the Curious – the former being among one of the first stories James wrote while the latter will make you never look at the English seaside in the same way again…
MR James himself would perform his new ghost stories to entertain his friends at King’s College, Cambridge every Christmas in the years leading up to World War I.

The show will give audiences the chance to experience these chilling stories in the way they were originally enjoyed.
“James dedicated his stories to ‘those who have at various times listened to them,'” explained Lloyd Parry, “and I try to evoke the tone, atmosphere and setting of his original performances.”
A Warning to the Curious… is at Theatre@41 on Friday 28 January at 7:30pm. To book your tickets, visit the theatre website.
