Police have described a speeding driver who shot through a junction, took off over and embankment. cleared a fence and crashed into a field as having had a “Dukes of Hazzard” moment.
It happened just outside Richmond and although there were no serious injuries the car was badly damaged.
One of the North Yorkshire Roads Policing group described the incident as “a lesson learned for the driver”. They will be spoken to in due course.
For those who don’t remember the Dukes of Hazzard, it was a 1970s American TV show which featured two brothers often on the wrong side of the law in Georgia.
They had a a customized 1969 Dodge Charger nicknamed ‘The General Lee’, which became an iconic symbol of the show.
They drove it either expertly or recklessly depending on your viewpoint.
