Meet York’s newest resident – Apalla the dragon!
She appeared at The Hole In Wand York today (Saturday). But dare you enter her lair…?
Apalla is the newest attraction at the magical golf course in the Coppergate Centre. And she’s got quite the back story.
The ‘Nest of the Dragon’ – aka hole number eight – is based at the confluence of the River Foss and the River Ouse.
It tells the story of the water dragon, Apalla who is keeping her eggs protected from humankind.
Bernie Fleck of the Hole In Wand said: “When creating new holes for the magical golf course it is important that we draw on local landmarks.
“So to include the River Ouse and Foss seemed a perfect choice for a creature such as the Basilisk.
“We welcome thousands of visitors a year so it is important to keep the holes exciting and change them following feedback.

“It also allows us to address any operational challenges and as a result we have included a large waiting area in this hole to improve the visitor experience and flow during popular hours.”
The Hole In Wand York opened in May 2021, the now multi award-winning mini golf venue was named as York’s Best Magical Experience in the Little Vikings Awards.
