Get ready to head somewhere over the rainbow this February – as the Wilberfoss Amateur Theatre Society (WATS) are getting ready to stage their second village pantomime The Wizard of Wilberfoss.
Following the sell-out success of their first pantomime, Little East Riding Hood, last year, this new production will once again aim to bring plenty of theatre family fun and typical pantomime silliness to help chase away the winter blues during the cold month of February.
The Wizard of Wilberfoss is at the Wilberfoss Community Centre on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 February 2025.

There will be three performances in total, two 6pm evening shows and a 1pm matinee on Sunday.
Wilberfoss Amateur Theatre Society was founded in October 2022 by Sally Langton, and since then has gone from strength to strength – successfully staging a pantomime and two musical showcases to sold-out audiences of all ages.
The non-profit community theatre group is completely volunteer-led, and welcomes everyone of all ages and abilities. It aims to bring the joy of theatre to the community and make theatre accessible for everyone.
This year’s pantomime is once again written, directed and choreographed by group leader Sally. Inspired by the popular tale The Wizard of Oz, it follows young Dotty McStuffins and her dog BoBo who are whisked away by the Twister to a strange land – Murton – and must find the mysterious Wizard of Wilberfoss to help them get home again.
They meet many friends – and some enemies – along the way, and the show features music inspired by Queen, Beauty and the Beast, Matilda and Hocus Pocus.
The cast are currently in the midst of rehearsals for The Wizard of Wilberfoss, and are looking forward to putting on another show as part of Wilberfoss Amateur Theatre Society and bringing plenty of pantomime pandemonium to the community.
One of the cast members, Abi Stubbings, said, “I am really excited about the upcoming WATS panto, especially after the amazing memories made from last year’s show.
“The group has been working so hard to bring together this true piece of community theatre, which I am sure all who come to see will enjoy. We’re one big family and I think you can definitely tell when we are all on stage together.”
Fellow cast member, David England, added, “Our rehearsals are going well, and working with a wonderful cast and director it’s feeling more exciting as it gets closer to the first performance.”
And tickets are selling fast! The Sunday matinee performance is already sold out, however there are tickets still remaining for the two evening performances – but get them while you can.
There will also be a cake and refreshments sale and a raffle with some fantastic prizes at each show. The refreshments and raffle will be cash only.
Tickets can be booked online here. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for under 18’s.
