Fed up of Pepsi? Don’t think that Coke really is the real thing?
Well, fret not – a brand new cola drink is launched in York today (Friday).
Cauldron Cola is a sugar-free beverage magicked up by the wizards at the Potions Cauldron on Shambles.
Cola is big business, taking about half the sales of the £5 billion soft drinks market. So the York Potions team set to work on making their unique contribution.
And, as with all their drinks, there is more to Cauldron Cola than first meets the eye.
Inspired by the business’s very own gargoyle, Grobblenook, something magical is revealed when drinkers turn the bottle upside down three times.
And thirsty York residents will be among the first to try the new drink. Wizards are taking Cauldron Cola to the streets of the city this week to invite people to try the world’s first gargoyle-inspired cola drink.
Cheeky charm
This launch comes after a great start to 2022 for the business. It opened a new outlet at York Station, The Potions’ Express, as well as being shortlisted for two accolades in the Federation of Small Business’ Food and Drink Heroes Awards.
“We’ve always wanted to a brew a charmed cola, something infused with the cheeky charm of our resident gargoyle that trainee witches and wizards can enjoy guilt-free and enjoy a magical treat at the same time,” said co-owner Ben Fry.

“We spent a long time perfecting the potion, balancing all the ingredients to ensure that Cauldron Cola stands up against the giants of the category.”
Co-owner Phil Pinder said the launch was a natural progression. “From the start, we’ve always wanted our business to be experiential – immersing our customers in the magical world of the Potions Cauldron, and this launch is no different.
“The fantastical elements are on display, and it will sit well alongside our other potions. We’re excited to see how this new drink, in a competitive category, performs and long may the magic continue!”
