As we all (hopefully!) know, we’re fast approaching Mothering Sunday, and what better way to celebrate than to bring your mum to a fabulous musical event.

What’s more, all proceeds will help those still suffering from December’s devastating floods.

Hold Back The River, hosted by BBC Radio York’s Jonathan Cowap and Adam Tomlinson, will bring together a variety of local artists in the Barbican for one unmissable night.

Here’s a taster of the incredible acts this show has to offer.

Rebecca Newman

Renowned as ‘the people’s soprano’ by Classic FM and has a No. 1 album in the Official UK Classical Album Chart. She has toured with Russell Watson, the UK’s biggest selling classical artist, and has shared the stage with the likes of Aled Jones, Alfie Boe, Max Boyle and group G4.

Her charity single Bridge Over Troubled Water, also in aid of the flood appeal, will be released on 6th March and can be purchased here.

The Steve Cassidy Band

A four piece band that plays a wide range of music for most ages, including jazz and rock from the sixties to the present. Steve Cassidy has recorded with composer John Barry and has performed all over the UK and in many other European countries such as Belgium, France, Spain and Germany.

Dan Webster

His style has been noted as ‘beautiful, a malleable mash of folk, country and Alt rock’ by Americana UK 9/10. With a new studio album ‘The Tin Man’ just out and tour dates released, Dan is well worth a watch.

Also featuring…
