This is the shocking moment when a man apparently used a rock to vandalise a car in York.
CCTV footage clearly shows the man approach a car in Layerthorpe. He picks up an object, which looks like a rock, from the ground near a gatepost.
He then walks over to the Honda Civic and appears to gouge the bonnet of the car with the object.
A few moments later he throws it to the ground and runs off.
The owner later reported that the car bonnet had been badly scratched, probably with a stone or part of a brick.
Altogether the vandalism caused £400 of damage.
The incident took place in the early hours of December 5, 2015.
Footage from the CCTV camera has been released by North Yorkshire Police. They would like to speak to the man in the footage, who had a distinctive pony tail.
