An inquisitive York cow managed to get itself wedged into a fence – but has been rescued by firefighters.
A crew from Acomb were called out at about 11.30pm last night after the cow was found entangled in a steel fence in the field behind York Cricket & Rugby Club on Shipton Road.
An RSPCA inspector called in the brigade.
Firefighters used wire cutters to snip away the fencing from around the cows back legs.
A vet also attended and checked over the cow who appeared uninjured.
