Police are investigating the sudden, unexplained death of a man at a house in York.
The man in his 30s was found to be unresponsive by his friends when they called round to the property on Monkton Road on Sunday morning (November 1).
An ambulance crew went to the scene but the man had already died. They called in North Yorkshire police at 9.49am.
A force spokesman said:
A 33-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs.
She has been released on bail while the investigation continues.
The name of the dead man has not been released. Enquiries are ongoing to trace and notify the deceased’s next of kin.
Neighbours spoke of their shock at the death.
One man, who declined to be named, said the first they knew about it was when they saw police vans outside the house in Monkton Road on Sunday.
He said he the man appeared to be the new boyfriend of a woman who lived there. “This guy seemed clean and tidy. It’s a shock.
“But there’s always something going on in this road.”
Lots of rumours about the death were circulating in the area. But another man told YorkMix: “It isn’t a suspicious death, it’s a drug overdose.
“No one’s done anything to him.”
He said the dead man was originally from Manchester.
