Trendy fashion, homeware and gifts are the hallmark of Stonegate’s newest store.
Oliver Bonas has now opened its York branch – the only one of its 45 stores in the north of England. Most of them are found in London and the south-east.
The business began when Oliver Tress – better known as Olly – started selling the interesting things he found on his travels in a shop in Fulham, opened in 1993.
A company spokesperson said:
It features our full range of products, many of which have been designed in-house to reflect the brand’s unique aesthetic.
A special home
Number 35 Stonegate is an historic building with an interesting heritage.
The timber frontage dates back to the 15th century. In 1682 Francis Hilyard opened his famous bookshop The Sign Of The Bible there.
The building became known as the House of the Bible, with a distinctive wooden bible still hanging over the front door.
More recently it was home to Haunted, owned by internationally renowned astrologer Jonathan Cainer.
To mark this new chapter in the building’s life, Oliver Bonas is holding a “celebration weekend” between Friday October 30 and Sunday November 1, giving away a Tote Bag to any customer spending over £25.
