We may not have made it to autumn half term yet, but York launches its first late night shopping event on Friday night (October 16).

Shambles Market is the location, where a new night market will run from 5pm-9pm.

The evening market will run every Friday till Christmas.

Traders selling gifts, bags, homeware, crafts vinyl and tasty treats will be grouped outside the new seated area behind Ye Olde Shambles Tavern.

Chris Price, city centre and markets manager, said:

Working together with businesses, we’re bringing in new ideas for York’s Shambles Market and we’re delighted to now offer evening shopping for our customers.

Additionally the Polly Perkins team will hold their monthly True Vintage Fair at Shambles Market on Sundays starting from November 22.

Who’s selling what

Artist Lee Boxall will be selling original art and limited-edition prints on his IpsofactoArt stall, while Frances Cormerford has a range of antiques on offer.

Phil Waines of Heart Of Wax will be offering vintage vinyl, while Rachel Stott from Thora And The Prince will be selling vintage textiles and hand-painted Victorian silk and the Everlong chalk paint range.

There’s also Dave Kelly selling wooden gifts, and stylish bags from Kevin Tuohy.

Food and drink

Roy Dean, also known as That Cookies & Fudge Guy, will offer delicious sweet treats, including his latest chocolate orange flavour fudge – inspired by Terry’s of York iconic Chocolate Orange.

And new trader Bethan Vincent, from ethical company Vincent’s Coffee, has a selection of “luxury coffee with a conscience”.

All the stalls are grouped to the rear of Ye Old Shambles Tavern, the former slaughterhouse-turned-pub which serves Yorkshire beer and cider including Shambles Stumbler pale ale.

It’s brilliant to be working in partnership with the traders at Shambles Market and Make It York to offer al fresco hot food in the evenings and customers can enjoy a drink with any meal purchased.
