York could set a scary new Guinness World Record this weekend – with your help.
York Dungeon, 12 Clifford Street, York
Sat Oct 17th from 10.30am-2.30pm
On Saturday (October 17) York Dungeon is leading an attempt to create the longest line of carved pumpkins in the history of the world ever.
The spooky attraction is looking for as many people to get involved as possible – 1,511 in fact!
That’s because the record currently stands at 1,510, as achieved by FivePoint Communties in USA, at the ‘Pumpkin Glow’ event in Irvine, California.
General manager at York Dungeon Helen Douglas is already imagining how the city’s finished line will look.
“It will be a sight to remember once the pumpkins are all lit up along the street,” she said.
All the features
Visitors and local businesses are encouraged to bring along a carved pumpkin to add to the winning line.
All pumpkins must be carved into a traditional Halloween Jack O’Lantern design – with eyes, nose, mouth and eyebrows – to be counted.
By bringing a carved pumpkin you’ll be in with the chance of becoming a Guinness World Record holder.
And to encourage everyone, kids up to 15 years old who bring a pumpkin can enter the Dungeon free on the day (with a paying adult).
