The decision is “in order to allow detectives time to follow up lines of inquiry,” police said.
The men, who are aged in their 50s and from the York area, were held in custody while being interviewed by detectives from the Major Crime Unit.
Although they have been released from custody, proceedings in this case – as they relate to them – remain active.
The arrests follow the arrest of a local man aged in his 50s on March 23, 2015. He remains on police bail while inquiries continue.
Detective Superintendent Dai Malyn, head of North Yorkshire Police’s Major Crime Unit and the lead officer in the Claudia Lawrence case, said:
That is because identification is an issue, and publishing the men’s identities could cause serious harm to my investigation.
This continues to be the case, even though the men have been released on bail, and I once more ask that the media and public continue to support me and make no attempt to identify the men, their home addresses, places of work or their vehicles.
Claudia’s family have been informed about today’s developments and are being supported.
