Platinum selling chartbusters Scouting For Girls will play the York Music Showcase in July.

The band, known for hits like She’s So Lovely, Heartbeat and the number one This Ain’t A Love Song, are ready to rock York Racecourse on Saturday, July 25.

Scouting For Girls will become the first band to make a return visit to the Knavesmire.

This news completes the line up for the track’s Music Showcase Weekend. Earlier this month legend Sir Tom Jones was revealed as the headliner playing after the sporting action on Friday, July 24.

Return trip

Scouting For Girls, first played York Races in 2011 when a crowd of more than 40,000 enjoyed their show.

In a ten-year career the trio have sold more than two million records and have been nominated for four Brit Awards and one Ivor Novello Award.

Speaking about their appearance, front man Roy Stride said:

We’ve got lots of great memories of York Races and we’re really looking forward to putting on a show.

On the racecourse itself, The EBF Lyric Fillies Stakes will be the centrepiece of a six race card on Friday evening.

The racing action on Saturday will include the Sky Bet York Stakes, a Group Two contest worth £100,000 that attracts a field from the top stables for this middle distance race.

James Brennan, head of marketing and sponsorship at the racecourse, said:

Scouting For Girls bring an energy and sense of fun along with their undoubted musical talent and I can only wish the 2015 crowd as much fun as was enjoyed by those who were here when they performed the last time.

I think some people will make it a big weekend by first seeing Sir Tom Jones on Friday evening and staying in the city to party with Scouting For Girls
