A doctor who stopped to help a 12-year-old cyclist badly hurt in a road accident has been urged to come forward by police.
The boy sustained serious injuries in the crash. It happened at about 4.50pm on Saturday, January 10 on the Wigginton side of the A1237 York outer ring road near The Web Adventure Park, also known as Creepy Crawlies play centre.
A white Seat car that was travelling from the roundabout towards Wigginton was in collision with the cyclist.
The boy, who is from the Leeds area, sustained serious injuries and was taken to York Hospital, but was later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary.
A 61-year-old local man was driving the car. He was not injured.
The road was closed as paramedics helped the boy, and then to allow collision investigators to examine the scene. It reopened at around 10pm.
Police seek witnesses
Police are appealing for witnesses. They particularly want to speak to a doctor who is believed to have stopped at the scene of the collision to assist the injured boy until an ambulance arrived.
The road was busy at the time and officers are appealing for anyone to contact them who saw the cyclist or the car prior to the crash or witnessed the actual collision.
