A new virtual reality experience has opened in York.
We reported back in March that the brand new virtual reality (VR) experience obliViaR was set to open soon in York – and now visitors can finally step through the doors and into another world.
The attraction, located in the former Frankie and Benny’s restaurant at Clifton Moor, opened last week, and is already proving to be a hit with people of all ages.
“Our opening week went really well,” said a spokesperson for obliViaR.
“We had guests of all ages from 8-90 years old! Everyone had a great time and said they couldn’t wait to come back to try out more games.
“We have a promo ready to launch with half term round the corner and can’t wait to welcome new faces!”
ObliViaR is a ‘free roam’ VR experience – meaning visitors can move freely around the space and can walk or run while playing, creating a more immersive and interactive experience.
Some of the virtual reality games include solving puzzles in an ancient temple, fending off the undead, arctic Olympics, and a virtual cook-off.
The venue includes four stand-alone pods, which are also wheelchair friendly, and are perfect for playing alone or for groups of up to four people. There are also three large free roam arenas, for up to eight players.

ObliViaR is open from 12pm-10pm six days a week (it’s closed Tuesdays, however is open every day for school holidays).
