Police have made an arrest after a fight on a busy York bridge left a man in hospital with head wounds.
As YorkMix reported on Friday, Ouse Bridge was partially sealed off following the outbreak of violence.
It was witnessed by a number of residents and visitors on the bridge as the incident took place shortly after 4pm.
Today, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson issued this update: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding following a disturbance in York on Friday afternoon.
“On arrival, officers found a man aged in his 40s with a wound to his head. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
“A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and taken into police custody for questioning.
“He was released on conditional bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.”


A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson told YorkMix: “We received a call at 4.14pm on Friday afternoon (25 April) to report a male who had been assaulted on Bridge Street, York.
“An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was conveyed to York Hospital.”
