Police have issued a warning ahead of York City’s big Easter game.
City take on Oldham Athletic at the LNER Community Stadium on Easter Monday (21 April), kick-off 3pm.
In the words of police it is a high stakes game. City have won five games on the bounce, putting them within four points of Barnet in the one automatic promotion spot at the top of the National League table.
City need to win all three of their last three games to keep the pressure on Barnet.
Oldham, in fourth place, will bring a large contingent of away fans – and North Yorkshire Police said they will be out in force too.
A force spokesperson said: “We know the vast majority of fans will be enjoying the York City vs Oldham Athletic match on Monday in the right spirit.
“The stakes are high, so it’s important that this match is a positive, memorable and safe occasion for all.
“We won’t tolerate antisocial or criminal behaviour from anyone – and we’ll deal with it promptly and robustly.
“There will be a significant policing operation in place on Monday, and members of the public can expect to see a high-visibility police presence across the city, to provide reassurance and safety for everyone.”
