A woman has been arrested following a huge fire that destroyed a North Yorkshire pub.
Officers investigating the fire at The Cricketers Pub, in Colcutt, Knaresborough, believe it was started deliberately.
As previously reported, six fire crews from across the region responded to reports of the blaze that tore through the pub at around 4am yesterday morning (Tuesday).
Following an examination of the scene, North Yorkshire Police arrested a woman on suspicion of arson.
A spokesperson said, “Following an examination of the scene by police crime scene investigators and fire investigation officers, it is now believed that the fire was started deliberately.
“A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson, she currently remains in police custody.”
North Yorkshire Fire Service reported that the blaze inside the pub caused “100% fire damage to the building”, but thankfully, nobody was hurt.
Officers are continuing their investigation and are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident.
