Live at Museum Gardens have announced their closing headline artist for the upcoming festival this summer.
Sheffield singer-songwriter Richard Hawley will close this summer’s series on Saturday 5 July – with a special performance to celebrate 20 years of his critically-acclaimed album Coles Corner.
He joins previously announced headline artists Elbow on Thursday 3 July and Nile Rodgers and Chic on Friday 4 July.
As well as performing Coles Corner in full, Richard Hawley will also perform a selection of favourites from across his incredible career.
He will be joined by 2024 Mercury Prize winners English Teacher and the American-born now Manchester-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist BC Camplight.
A York exclusive postcode presale (YO1, YO10, YO19, YO23, YO24, YO26, YO30, YO31 & YO32) will go on sale at 10am on Thursday 6 March – tickets available here.
Tickets will then go on general sale on Friday 7 March at 10am. Tickets will be available here.
Since starting his first band in school, Richard Hawley has quietly become one of the country’s most revered musical creatives having released nine studio albums under his own name as well as two with cult britpoppers Longpigs, a stint as a touring musician in Pulp alongside close friend Jarvis Cocker and a collection of collaborations that includes everyone from Lisa Marie Presley to The Arctic Monkeys.
Live at Museum Gardens is returning for a second run of shows this July following a sold-out debut series last year. In 2024, it saw 12,000 music fans enjoy performances from the likes of Jack Savoretti, Peter Doherty, and York-favourites Shed Seven.
The future of the outdoor concerts was put at risk when a single noise complaint led to a review of the premises licence of Museum Gardens – but after a licensing hearing it was decided that no further action would be taken.
As well as a summer of music, it also includes the inaugural York Comedy Festival on Sunday 6 July – with top comedians like Dara Ó Briain, Katherine Ryan and Maisie Adam performing.
Live at York Museum Gardens is a joint collaboration between Leeds-based Fututresound Group and York Museums Trust.
