A serious attack took place at York Station tonight (Sunday).
Police have cordoned off a large section of the station concourse following the assault
Lots of officers were seen in and around the station, along with a number of ambulances.
The area around Pret A Manger and in front of the main train information board was placed behind police tape.
The cordon was removed on Monday morning.
British Transport Police Officers said they were called to York Station at around 8.48pm following reports of a serious assault.
Paramedics and North Yorkshire Police also attended, and a person was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
Detective Superintendent Sam Blackburn said: “Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and passengers will see an increased police presence in the area as a result.
“I urge any witnesses or anyone with information to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 617 of 15 December. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.”
Witnesses reported seeing a fight and one person unconscious, receiving CPR.
The station is still open and trains arriving and departing as normal.
