It was on the roundabout which links Monkgate with Heworth Green, and happened at around 6pm.
Few details are available now but it appears to have involved a car and a cyclist.

Paramedics were treating one injured person in the carriageway.
The roundabout was partially closed. Outbound traffic could still access Huntington Road. But there was no access from the roundabout to Heworth Green or Foss Bank.
North Yorkshire Police posted: “Monkgate in York is currently closed at the Brigadier pub roundabout on the approach to Heworth Green. This is due to a serious collision.
“Traffic on number of main routes around York including Foss Bank, Monkgate and Huntington Road is affected and there is significant disruption in the area.
“The road will remain shut while we deal with the incident along with other emergency services. So we’re urging motorists to avoid the area if possible this evening.”
Restrictions have now been lifted.
