Bus passengers can travel to and from their destinations even later this festive season with First Bus.
The travel company has announced its updated timetable for the city, covering Christmas and the New Year.
The operator is investing in maintaining later journeys for Christmas Eve on both City and University routes, as well as Park and Ride.
Michael Moor, Head of Network, said: “We’re supporting customers in York to plan ahead for their travel arrangements over the festive holidays. These added services will help us explore customer demand and we’ll use the outcomes to determine future provision.”
Updated services
Services will operate as normal on the City network up to, and including, Monday 23 December.
After which, there will be mainly a Saturday timetable with limited special services operating on certain Bank Holiday dates.
A limited timetable will be introduced on University of York services from Sunday 15 December, resuming to normal service on Sunday 5 January 2025.
The overview of services is as follows:
City:
- Christmas Eve – Saturday service with early finish on some routes.
- Christmas Day – No services.
- Boxing Day – No services.
- Friday 27-Monday 30 December – Saturday service (Sunday timetable 29 December).
- NY Eve – Saturday service with early finish on some routes.
- New Year’s Day – No service.
The normal timetable will resume on Tuesday 2 January 2025.
Park and Ride:
- Sunday 10 November- Monday 23 December – service uplift.
- Christmas Eve – Saturday service, some early finishes and 2A not running.
- Christmas Day – No services.
- Boxing Day – Special service on routes 3, 7 and 9 only.
- Friday 27-Monday 30 December – Saturday service (Sunday timetable 29 December).
- New Year’s Eve – Saturday service, some early finishes and 2A not running.
- New Year’s Day – No service.
- The normal timetable will resume on Tuesday 2 January 2025.
University of York:
Limited timetable from Sunday 15 December with no services on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
